  11. DESCRIPTION

  13. Splitty enables you to split large files into smaller ones that 
  14. can be regrouped later to reconstitute the original file.  It is 
  15. particularly useful for sending large files over unreliable 
  16. networks, and for saving large files to floppy disks or other 
  17. modest storage media.

  20. RELEASE NOTES

  22. Starting with v1.6, the master split file (*.fsm) is written out 
  23. before the split files (*.fss).  This way, removable storage media, 
  24. such as floppy disks, are inserted in the same sequence during both 
  25. split and merge operations.

  30. - v1.6  on 1998-04-22: Enhanced the user interface for removable media, 
  31.   added support for disk partitions larger than 4GB where available 
  32.   (NT, Win95-OSR2, or later), and other minor adjustments.
  33. - v1.51 on 1997-12-12: Now supports NT v3.51 and possibly earlier 
  34.   versions.
  35. - v1.5  on 1997-06-16: Updated installation procedure and package 
  36.   information, added support for floppy disk operations, split files 
  37.   verification, and enhanced data validation (although there haven't 
  38.   been any complaints).

  42. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  45. - Enough free disk space to accommodate the software (less than 0.5MB).

  55. INSTALLATION

  57. Close the application if it is currently running, then run the 
  58. SetupSplitty.exe file and follow the instructions.

  61. UPGRADES

  63. Close the application if it is currently running, then install 
  64. the new version on top of the old one, unless otherwise specified 
  65. in this file.

  68. UNINSTALLATION
  69.  
  70. Close the application if it is currently running.  Click the Windows 
  71. "Start" button, and select "Settings", then "Control Panel".  
  72. Double-click the "Add/Remove Programs item".  Proceed by 
  73. double-clicking the line corresponding to this product and follow 
  74. the instructions.

  76. Note that configuration files, generally with a ".dat" extension, 
  77. and registration files, namely "Registration Form.txt", may be 
  78. created by the application and will not be deleted for your 
  79. convenience in case you wish to refer to them at a later date.
